P2 - Initial Script Scene Ideas

Mind-map of Six Key Extracts:

Extract 1: Introducing Characters
In this extract of my TV series I plan to show the start of the very first episode, where the characters are all walking to school and meeting up along the way to form a smooth sequence where we are introduced to all the characters and immediately learnt their personality traits. We also get introduced to Amy Anderson which is the love interest of Cadwell Walker which immediately establishes a driving force throughout the series for Cadwell Walker. In this first extract we are also introduced to the documentary style filming technique with the characters addressing the camera and the documentary crew.

Positives:
- Extract where we learn about the documentary filming style by addressing it straight away, and breaking the fourth wall.
- Extract where we meet the charters for the first time, and get to see them before any character development.
- In this extract it allows a nice sequence to be made from the walk to school which may hook audiences in.

Negatives:
- No large disruption in the episode
- Does not show key TV series plot points
- Consumers may not like being spoken too directly through the documentary filming style

Extract 2: Finding the Bag of Drugs
In my second extract my idea is to show the moment when the group of friends find the bag of unknown substance and we get to see them react to it and also see the different moralities within the group when deciding what to do with the bag of drugs. This extract will involve all five of the main characters and will see them fall out with the conflicting ideas of what to do with the unknown substances causing tension between the characters.

Positives:
- See the main disruption of the series
- See the characters outside of the school setting
- Get to understand the characters when out under pressure facing a decision

Negatives:
- Do not get to see any character development due to the extract being focused on one period of time
- Set outside so many be more expensive to film
- Seeing that characters fall out may not be good at drawing audiences in

Extract 3: Disposal of the Drugs
The group of friends meet up with the intent to dispose of the drugs, however conflict occurs as prior to meeting up Ben Boondock was in charge of looking after the drugs to which he lost and replaced with sugar. This is also the exact where Miss Josue gets involved with the group of friends as she becomes increasingly suspicious of their erratic behaviour due to the drugs making them nervous.

Positives:
- Are left on a cliff hanger which may entice the audience to the series
- Could satisfy audience pleasure of personal relationship as they could relate to the characters in the moment of crisis
- Have the opportunity to create a running sequence within this extract

Negatives:
- Shows the events of the final episode which may give away the final build up for the series
- Does not give much time for the audience to connect to the characters
- Also shot outside so may be more expensive to film

Extract 4: Preparing for Exams
This will be when the school is trying to prepare the students for up and coming exams and are encouraging revision sessions and extra help for struggling students, which includes Cadwell Walker and Miles Elland. This is also the extract before extract 3 where Ben Boondock takes possession of the drugs as he volunteers to look after them before a decision I made on what to do with them.

Positives:
- Shows characters in high pressure scenarios
- Audience gets a closer look at Ben Boondocks personality in a one on one setting
- Satisfies audience pleasure of personal identity as pressure of exams is retable directly to the target audience.

Negatives:
- May not be a unique idea for disruption / the audience is tired about hearing about exams

Extract 5: Mechanics of School
This extract is when the characters are showing the documentary team, hence the audience, around the school and showing them the ins and ours of the school and the ways they've found how to exploit the system; this will also be the first time we see the characters facing some sort of authority.

Extract 6: Determination of the drugs
In this extract the characters go to Leo Thomas's house in order to try determine what drugs they have taken, if they should try them, what effects will it have if they do? At Leo Thomas's house Harry Williams and Ben Boondock try the drugs, however conflict is caused when Ben Boondock breaks Leo Thomas's neighbours fence to which they have to try deal with whilst being affected by the substances.
